Sharpening

We recommend sharpening every 6 months if you are using your knife for more than one hour per day. Water stones work well on our steel if you really know how to use them.

For maintenance, we recommend touching up your blade using a felt or leather strop loaded with a spray format industrial emulsion of 1-micron-sized diamond particles. You can purchase that in the Accessories section.

International Shiping

We ship anywhere FedEx, UPS, and DHL can ship to.

You are responsible for all taxes and duties (including VAT) imposed by your country of residence.

Where Are Aura Products Made?

Aura products are produced in Southern California.

Technical

What does HRC Mean?

HRC is short for Rockwell Hardness Scale Type C. This is a common test used to determine resistance to penetration. This number can be insightful in determining the general performance of steels you are familiar with. It is similar to looking at how many megapixels a camera has.

Complex steels are full of microscopic cutting carbides making HRC misleading if compared to more traditional knife steels, Vanadium and niobium carbides are too small to be measured with the standard diamond-shaped HRC indentor. Aura California steel is chock full of these carbides which are near diamond level in hardness. These carbides are half the size of a human red blood cell and greatly contribute to cutting performance and edge retention.

Variation in Gemstones and Wood Type

Thank you for choosing Aura California. We are committed to delivering high-quality, handcrafted items that meet your expectations. However, it is essential to note that the gemstones and wood used in our products are natural elements, and therefore, unique. Each piece is one-of-a-kind, which means that the color, pattern, and texture will slightly vary from the images displayed on our website or catalog.

Gemstones:

The gemstones we use in our products are naturally sourced and come with their own set of unique characteristics—be it color, inclusions, or pattern. While we aim to represent the product as accurately as possible through photographs and descriptions, please expect some level of variation in the gemstone's appearance. These differences do not signify a defect but rather make each piece distinctively beautiful.

Wood Type:

Much like our gemstones, the wood we use is also a natural product. Variations in color, grain pattern, and texture are inevitable and part of the wood's natural charm. These unique attributes contribute to the individual character of each item, making your purchase truly one-of-a-kind.

We appreciate your understanding and value your choice to embrace the natural beauty and individuality of our products. Should you have any concerns or questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to our customer service team for assistance.
